Position snapshot
- Title: Head of Infrastructure, Cloud and Cyber Resilience
- Location: Meerut, Uttar Pradesh
- Reports to: Leadership Team / CTO
- Compensation: INR 30 to 50 lakh a year CTC
- Team: three engineers covering Cloud and Systems, Site Reliability Engineering, and Cybersecurity and Compliance
- Hiring process: three interview rounds, two virtual and a final on site
The role
The group is looking for a battle-tested infrastructure leader to architect resilient, automated and secure hybrid environments that scale with growth and keep every unit and platform running. The mandate is to build infrastructure so reliable that the organization depends on architecture, automation and governance, not on individuals, to stay operational.
Five dimensions of the mandate
- Infrastructure strategy: design and manage highly available hybrid infrastructure across on-premise data centers and cloud.
- Technical governance: lead Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform or Ansible and eliminate manual "snowflake" configurations.
- Financial governance: own infrastructure budgets of about INR 3 to 5 crore or more, optimize cloud spend and negotiate vendor contracts.
- Cybersecurity and risk: security-first design, compliance readiness, firewall governance, vulnerability management and disaster recovery readiness.
- Operational excellence: observability, monitoring, runbooks, troubleshooting standards, backups and automated recovery.
Detailed responsibilities
1. Hybrid infrastructure and cloud
- Design and maintain scalable infrastructure across data centers and cloud platforms.
- Oversee server lifecycle, hardware procurement, capacity planning and modernization.
- Ensure high availability through clustering, replication, failover and redundancy.
- Lead OS patching, upgrade planning and infrastructure hardening.
2. Infrastructure as Code and automation
- Make Terraform and/or Ansible the infrastructure standard.
- Replace manual configuration with repeatable, version-controlled deployments.
- Build automated provisioning, configuration management and recovery workflows, including self-healing mechanisms.
3. Observability and reliability engineering
- Define the observability strategy and govern platforms such as Grafana and Prometheus.
- Track business-critical infrastructure metrics for continuity and performance.
- Lead incident response, root-cause analysis and blameless post-mortems.
- Keep runbooks and troubleshooting guides current and regularly tested.
4. Cybersecurity and compliance
- Embed security in infrastructure design and operations.
- Guide the Security Engineer on frameworks such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2.
- Govern firewalls, network segmentation, VPNs, endpoint protection, identity management and vulnerability scanning.
- Make runbooks mandatory for firewalls, switches and cloud troubleshooting, and oversee DR and business continuity planning.
5. Financial and vendor management
- Own annual infrastructure and cloud budgets and present technology investments to the CFO and leadership.
- Drive cloud cost optimization through rightsizing, cost allocation tagging and utilization analysis.
- Negotiate pricing, support tiers, warranties and service agreements, and evaluate ROI on modernization.
6. Team leadership and governance
- Lead and mentor infrastructure, SRE and security engineers.
- Design end-to-end CI/CD infrastructure pipelines, immutable infrastructure and zero-downtime deployments.
- Act as the final escalation point for critical incidents.
- Build a culture of standardization, automation and documentation, so knowledge is institutional rather than personal.
What success looks like
- Availability consistently meets business continuity targets.
- Critical systems recover automatically in common failure scenarios.
- Cloud and infrastructure costs stay optimized and predictable.
- Security compliance audits close with minimal remediation findings.
- Runbooks, DR procedures and troubleshooting guides are always current.
What you bring
- 10 to 15+ years in infrastructure engineering, systems, SRE, DevOps architecture, cloud architecture or cybersecurity leadership.
- Hands-on management of physical servers, storage, networking and cloud platforms.
- Deep expertise architecting highly available multi-cloud or hybrid environments (OpenStack, AWS or Azure) integrated with distributed physical sites such as plants and warehouses.
- Has led teams through a major outage, infrastructure failure or security breach, with a blameless post-mortem mindset.
- Track record managing enterprise hybrid environments with infrastructure budgets of INR 5 crore or more.
- Comfortable presenting technical risk to CXOs in business terms.
Technical must-haves
- Infrastructure and cloud: hybrid infrastructure and cloud operations
- IaC: Terraform and/or Ansible
- Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana and enterprise monitoring tools
- Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switches, firewalls and VPN
- Security: vulnerability management, endpoint security, IAM and compliance governance
- DR and backups: disaster recovery, backup, replication and business continuity
