Staff Systems Engineer, Sensor Systems

Confidential client: an automotive and industrial sensing technology company building next-generation LiDAR products.

The role

A player-coach technical lead for developing and maintaining next-generation LiDAR products, combining hands-on critical systems work with technical direction. Designs must meet automotive standards: ASPICE, ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434 and ISO 21448. You will be the first systems engineer in the Bengaluru team, helping build its team, culture and technical foundation.

What you will do

• Own system architecture, requirements and design documentation, with traceability from sensor performance down to components
• Lead decomposition and integration across optics, opto-mechanics, electronics, firmware, DSP and software, including performance budgets, interfaces and verification planning
• Hands-on ownership of opto-mechanical and DSP subsystem requirements
• Perform system modelling, trade studies and test-data analysis to validate decisions and resolve cross-domain issues
• Develop and maintain Functional Safety and Cybersecurity concepts (FMEA, FTA, TARA) and ASPICE-aligned work products
• Act as senior systems liaison across disciplines and in design and milestone reviews

What you bring

• 10+ years in systems engineering or a related role, with end-to-end ownership of complex sensor or embedded systems
• Hands-on sensor systems experience with depth in optics or opto-mechanics and DSP or signal processing; LiDAR strongly preferred
• Sensor signal chain, characterisation, calibration, and performance and noise analysis
• Expertise in ASPICE, ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434 and ISO 21448 processes and documentation
• Requirements management tools such as DOORS, Polarion or JAMA; MBSE or SysML is preferred
• Strong analytical and communication skills across multidisciplinary teams
• Pure software systems, MBSE or requirements work, ADAS integration or functional safety alone are not a fit
